The East River-facing living room, Garbo's favorite room in her Campanile apartment, which remained virtually unchanged at the time her heir put it on the market in 2017. Greta Garbo (born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson; 18 September 1905 – 15 April 1990) was a Swedish-American actress. Generally regarded as one of the greatest screen actresses of all time, Garbo was known for her melancholic, somber persona due to her many portrayals of tragic characters in her films and for her subtle and understated performances. In the movies, Camille (1937) and Ninotchka (1939), Garbo delivers two of her most magnificent performances. She received a special Oscar for her work in 1954.
